Kia ora and welcome. This month’s LBP knowledge includes further information about certificates of work and covers changes to the Building Code.
IN BUILD 180, Faye Pearson-Green, Building Practitioners Board Member, covered the fundamentals of certificates of work. In this issue, Faye discusses part two of this series, see CoWs and collaboration. This covers multiple points including what to do when issuing a certificate of work if multiple LBPs have been involved in the design.
In Build 181, we outlined the healthy homes standards for rental properties in New Zealand covering the new specific and minimum standards for heating, insulation, ventilation, moisture ingress and drainage and draught stopping in rental properties. These standards were passed into law on 1 July 2019, and landlords are required to be compliant with them from 1 July 2021. We provided helpful links and information – please take the time to read it to ensure you understand how the standards may impact you as an LBP. In this issue, we expand on the insulation requirements.
This is the first Build for 2021. There were many challenges throughout 2020. However, there is optimism for more certainty in 2021 with news of COVID-19 vaccines and the continuing roll-out of the $1.6 billion Trades and Apprenticeships Training Package.
