Surprisingly, the upper wall region appears at this stage to be the most influ- ential. In Figure 1, the same quantity of timber is tested in the three different zones in three separate experiments. The order of best to worst is from right to left being
the lower wall zone, followed by the ceiling and then the upper wall zone.
Good progress is being made, and the research team is looking forward to devel- oping some practical and useful guidance for fire safety designers.
